Truly Blessed
|
I was lucky enough to be involved with horses growing up. Then moving to a different state, college, career, marriage and starting a family did not leave me with any time to spare. Many years later, I was able to become involved again when my husband purchased a beautiful tri-colored paint gelding for my birthday named Champ.
Five weeks later I had a riding accident that left me grounded for over a year and not able to work with him. After getting my medical clearance, I began trying to do ground work with Champ but he developed laminitis in his front legs that required stall rest to heal.
6 months later when he was medically cleared for training, we started with ground work again but I became increasingly frustrated with his dominant behavior. I felt a connection with this horse but I wasn't communicating well with him.
Fortunately, I found Steven Freeman through a mutual acquaintance. After meeting with Steven, I had hope that I would finally have the relationship with this horse that I had been dreaming of for 3 long years.
I visited Champ as much as I was able to during his training. Steven showed me during each visit how to better communicate with him. With in the first week, Champ was relaxed, more attentive and trusting.

During weeks two and three, Champ was focused on tasks and had a lot less attitude. I was able to ride him during week four for the first time since my accident! And what a smooth ride it was!
I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Steven. I am incredibly thankful to him for not only training my horse through natural horsemanship techniques but more importantly for teaching me how to help my horse become all he can be.
Sincerely,
Stacey M.
